The Miami Heat guard confirmed that he did have a child while on a brief breakup from his current fiancée, Gabrielle Union. He explained that his little boy is about a month old now, and he considers him a ‘blessing to the Wade bloodline.’
Dwyane Wade publicly acknowledged that he has a newborn son with a mystery ex, a child that he fathered while on a break from his now-fiancée, Gabrielle Union. He admits that his youngest son was born during a “painful” time in his life, but he and Gabrielle have worked out their relationship, and he’s excited to be involved in his baby’s life, because he considers his son to be a pure “blessing.”
Dwyane Wade Love Child: Confirms He Fathered Son During Gabrielle Union Split
Dwayne, 31, is taking his unexpected fatherhood in stride. “As I’ve always done my whole life … is always focus on what’s most important to me and my family, and that’s being a great father,” Dwyane told reporters on Dec. 30, when confirming the news he fathered a son with a mystery woman during a split from his fiancée. “I’ve always tried to show my importance in my kids’ lives and it doesn’t change now.”
He acknowledged that he was going through a rough time when he fathered a baby, but his son has been nothing but a positive. “Yeah, I had a time … in our pain and our hurt, (but) a blessing came out of it in my life, having a son that was born healthy,” Dwyane told reporters. “So, I’m moving on.”
Dwyane Wade Says Baby Is ‘Blessing To The Wade Bloodline’
“You know me,” Dwyane said. “I’m involved in my kids’ lives. When my kids were living at home with me, or wasn’t living at home with me, I tried to do everything I could to see them.” Dwyane has full custody of his two older sons, Zion and Zaire, who he had with his ex-wife Siohvaughn Funches. He is also raising his nephew, Dahveon Morris. He insists that his newest addition doesn’t change his stance on involved parenting.
“It would compromise it if I wasn’t a father first,” Dwyane said. “I’m always going to be a father first. That doesn’t change. If you decide to when you can be a father, that’s when it compromises. But, like I said, this is something, obviously, private for my family that we will continue to deal with as a family but we have a blessing to the bloodline, to the Wade bloodline. And from that standpoint, it doesn’t, to me, state anything differently from what I’ve always shown.”
