So sweet! Robin finally decided to go public with her relationship with longtime love Amber Laign on Dec. 29 because she was so ‘grateful’ for her girlfriend’s unconditional devotion through the years.

Robin Roberts, 53, casually came out while reflecting on all of the things she was most thankful for in 2013 — including her girlfriend of 10 years, Amber Laign! Robin’s sexuality may have been news to us, but the Good Morning America host has reportedly always been open with others about her love life. But after Amber helped the anchor through two serious illnesses — breast cancer in 2007 and Myelodysplastic Syndrome in 2012 — Robin decided it was finally time to publicly acknowledge her girlfriend for all her love and support!

Robin has had one heck of a year — after battling cancer and sharing her journey with the world, we learned that she is one of the bravest women in Hollywood. And now we know that she couldn’t have done it without “her rock,” Amber.

Robin “never felt the need to tell the world, but at the end of such a difficult year she wanted to acknowledge what Amber did for her,” sources close to Robin tell TMZ. “We’re told the illnesses strengthened an already strong bond,” the site reports.

How powerful! We’re so glad Robin finally decided to share this part of her life with us. We wish her and Amber all the best!

Robin posted the following sweet message after Christmas, sharing everything she is thankful for:

Flashback 12/29/12….Hard to believe this was 1 year ago today..when I reached a critical milestone of 100 days post transplant…and KJ was finally allowed to come back home.

Reading this comforts me and I hope the same for you: “If you are depressed, you are living in the past. If you are anxious, you are living in the future. If you are at peace, you are living in the present.”

At this moment I am at peace and filled with joy and gratitude.

I am grateful to God, my doctors and nurses for my restored good health.

I am grateful for my sister, Sally-Ann, for being my donor and giving me the gift of life.

I am grateful for my entire family, my long time girlfriend, Amber, and friends as we prepare to celebrate a glorious new year together.

I am grateful for the many prayers and well wishes for my recovery. I return every one of them to you 100 fold.

On this last Sunday of 2013 I encourage you to reflect on what you are grateful for too.
