Joe had no problem calling out Miley and Demi as the people who got him to smoke weed for the first time! But now, Miley’s reacting to the comments — and she’s pretty much laughing at him, pointing out that she and Demi were younger than him so how did they influence it?
In a revealing interview with New York magazine, Joe Jonas admitted that the first time he had every smoked pot was with Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato. “They kept saying, ‘Try it! Try it!’ so I gave it a shot,” he said in the interview. But his friend Miley’s not too happy about that.
Miley Cyrus Disses Joe Jonas
“If you want to smoke weed, you’re going to smoke weed,” Miley said in an interview with the New York Times. ”There’s nothing that two little girls are going to get you to do that you don’t want to do. I thought maybe he was saying that like it was going to make him look badass.”
The reporter pointed out in the interview that yes, usually it’s the older person who does the influencing.
“We were so young that it’s actually like, ‘How did you get peer pressured by me?’” she replied. At the time, Joe says he was 17 or 18. The singer, now 24, is three years older than both Miley and Demi. So Miley does have a point there.
Miley On Drugs: I Never Want To Glamorize Weed
Miley, who got on stage and lit a suspicious cigarette at the 2013 EMAs, has always been criticized for her drug use, as she’s a role model for younger girls.
“There was a thing that Kurt Cobain said, something like, ‘There’s a special place in hell for people that glamorize drugs,’ and I never want to be that person that’s, like, talking to 16- and 17-year-olds and being like, ‘Smoke weed.’ I’ve got a little sister. I don’t want her to smoke weed, and it’s not because I think weed is bad, but… she’ll make the choice,” Miley explained.
“Or even, like, my language. I don’t know how to not talk the way I talk. I would rather have everything I do be 100 percent honest. I just want to be who I am.”
