‘Duck Dynasty’: I Will Not Watch The Show If Phil Robertson Is On It

The ‘Duck Dynasty’ star has made incredibly inappropriate comments about gay people, and African Americans. I’m so disgusted by Phil’s opinions that I may never watch the show again. I think A&E should kick Phil off the show for good!

Phil Robertson has proven to be a close-minded and ignorant person. The star of of A&E’s Duck Dynasty told the January issue of GQ, that being gay is “just not logical,” and he also said that people were happier before the Civil Rights Movement.

Phil Robertson Should Be Kicked Off ‘Duck Dynasty’

I am so disappointed in Phil for making such insensitive comments. I really enjoyed watching this show because I thought it was funny and it was a great escape from other shows that centered around housewives and money. I thought that the Robertson’s were your typical American family but accepted all walks of life. I realize that they all take the Bible verbatim and that everyone is entitled to their opinions. But when you are reaching millions of people on the number one cable reality show, you have to think twice before you speak.

Phil should have kept his thoughts to himself. Yes, the First Amendment gives Americans the right to free speech but I don’t agree with hate speech. Damning other people for their sexual preference or belittling an entire movement such as the 1950′s Civil Rights Movement is an abomination.

“I never, with my eyes, saw the mistreatment of any black person. Not once,” he said. “Where we lived was all farmers. The blacks worked for the farmers. I hoed cotton with them. I’m with the blacks, because we’re white trash. We’re going across the field … They’re singing and happy. I never heard one of them, one black person, say, ‘I tell you what: These doggone white people’â€"not a word!… Pre-entitlement, pre-welfare, you say: Were they happy? They were godly; they were happy; no one was singing the blues.”

As a reminder, this is what Phil said about gay people:

“Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there,” he said. “Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men. Don’t be deceived. Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlersâ€"they won’t inherit the kingdom of God. Don’t deceive yourself. It’s not right. It seems like, to me, a vaginaâ€"as a manâ€"would be more desirable than a man’s anus. That’s just me. I’m just thinking: There’s more there! She’s got more to offer. I mean, come on, dudes! You know what I’m saying? But hey, sin: It’s not logical, my man. It’s just not logical.”

I don’t feel comfortable contributing to the ratings of this show after hearing such slander. They already have millions of dollars from their family business, their show and now their Christmas music album. I think they’ve had a good run but it must come to a screeching halt after Phil’s comments.

There’s a saying that a fish rots from the head down, and that is clearly the case with the Robertson’s. I’d like to think the rest of the family doesn’t feel this way but I would assume they all share very similar views. But I’m sure they’ll be more careful with their words after their father has invoked outrage amongst Americans.

I’m done with Duck Dynasty and I hope you will be too.
