Amber Portwood: I Was High The Entire Time I Filmed ‘Teen Mom’

The ‘Teen Mom’ star got shockingly honest during a new interview with Dr. Phil, airing on Dec. 20. Not only did she admit the gritty details of her drug use, she explained the exact way she would sneak drugs into rehab.

Amber Portwood admitted that her drug use was worse than anyone had thought — and she even managed to abuse drugs the entire time she was filming her show, Teen Mom, she also got crafty about discovering new ways to get high while she was supposed to be getting clean in rehab. In her first sit-down interview since her Nov. 4 prison release, Amber spilled her struggles to Dr. Phil.

“This is actually my first time on stage sober, so I’m really nervous,” Amber, 23, told Dr. Phil before starting the interview. “Every time you see me on that show [Teen Mom] I am high,” she revealed.

Amber Portwood Out Of Prison: Now What?

She admitted that even when she was in rehab, she secretly abused the painkiller Fentanyl.

“I’m not going to give anyone any ideas but let’s just say you can, it doesn’t show up unless you send it to a lab,” she told Dr. Phil. “It’s patches. It’s really dangerous. I opened up the patch and I would eat the patch. It’s like a three-day patch. It’s very dangerous, and I, um, I was using that the whole time I was in there. With a friend, or whatever she was.”

Amber Portwood: ‘I Never Thought About Leah’ Before Jail

Amber used her now 5-year-old daughter Leah as the inspiration to get clean and get out of Indiana’s Rockville Correctional Facility nearly four years ahead of her sentenced 5-year jail stint.

“Before prison, I never thought about Leah,” she admitted to InTouch magazine. “I was addicted to drugs and didn’t care about anything else. … Prison saved my life â€" and gave me a second chance at being a mother.”
