It’s really getting down to the wire on ‘The Voice!’ On Dec. 9, the top five performers took the stage and naturally — not one fell flat!
It looks like Adam Levine‘s Team may take this season. With three singers left, every one of them just got better and better — and Tessanne Chin closed out the show with a rendition of “Bridge Over Troubled Water,” since they obviously saved the best for last. While she was going through an emotional time in her life, it only made her voice stronger — and made us fall more and more in love with her. We were speechless after the performance, just like her coach was.
Top 5 Wow On ‘The Voice’
While Tessanne was great, that doesn’t mean that the other four singers fell short — because if there could be a five-way tie, it would have been tonight.
Team Adam’s James Wolpert opened the show and seriously wow’d with U2‘s “With or Without You.” While his coach gave him a standing ovation (and looked so cute in his button-down sweater), I’ve gotta say — it wasn’t my favorite performance by James. However, all the singers on this show are so talented, I guess I just have gotten spoiled because let’s be honest — it was still amazing.
Adam’s team was seriously on a role. Will Champlin was next with Fun‘s “Carry On,” and basically, I ran to iTunes to buy it. Adam had a literal twinkle in his eye during it! I could go on for paragraphs, but just go buy the song — you won’t be let down.
Team Xtina’s Jacquie Lee performed next with one of my all time favorite songs: Sarah McLachlin‘s “Angel.” She was joined by a children’s choir — not that she needed that. Christina Aguilera was beaming after, seriously looking like a proud parent (just like Jacquie’s parents in the crowd!) and honestly she was the best coach to help her with a song like that — if anyone knows how to sing big notes, it’s Christina. While I kept having Dawson’s Creek flashbacks during the song, I forgot that the girl singing it was only 16. It was incredible, powerful, and sweet. I’m still saying she’s making it to the end.
Blake Shelton‘s last contestant, Cole Vosbury was next with the country classic, “Shameless.” Big surprise, Blake’s guy took on Garth Brooks. I’m a huge Garth fan (and Billy Joel fan, who wrote the song), so I had high expectations. I wasn’t let down. Cole put on a perfect Cole-like spin on it, changing it just enough from the original. He still kept that little rasp that Garth had during the song, but made it a little sweeter. Was it my favorite performance of the night? No. But was it bad? Not even close.
