The consequences of Phil’s offensive anti-gay and racist comments continue to unfurl. First Phil was kicked off his own TV show, and now he’s not even welcome in his favorite restaurant!
Cracker Barrel Old Country Store (otherwise known as the restaurant you happen to stop at during a long road trip) is just the latest company to distance themselves from Duck Dynasty after Phil Robertson‘s controversial, anti-gay and racist interview with GQ magazine. The chain announced on Dec. 21 that it would be pulling certain Duck Dynasty products from their shelves.
‘Duck Dynasty’ Products Pulled By Cracker Barrel
Cracker Barrel said in a Facebook post that while they will continue to sell some products from Duck Commander, the company run by the Robertson family, other Duck Dynasty products “which we were concerned might offend some of our guests,” have been pulled.
“We operate within the ideals of fairness, mutual respect and equal treatment of all people. These ideals are the core of our corporate culture,” Cracker Barrel also said. “We continually evaluate the products we offer and will continue to do so.”
Cracker Barrel did not specify which Duck Dynasty products were being discontinued.
Phil Robertson Suspended From ‘Duck Dynasty’
It has been a tumultuous time for Phil and the Duck Dynasty family since his interview with GQ magazine was released on Dec. 17. In it, Phil called gays sinners and compared homosexuality to bestiality. He also equated black people to trash, made a remark claiming that black people were happy before the civil rights movement, and compared Islamists to Nazis.
Phil’s comments immediately sparked a nationwide controversy, and a day later, A&E announced that he had been indefinitely suspended from Duck Dynasty. That decision has created a controversy of its own, as Phil’s fans have actually been sending A&E employees death threats in the response to the suspension, according to Deadline.
So Cracker Barrel better be careful.
