So awful! A Chicago toddler was mauled by her grandfather’s dog after she was left home alone with the pet, and later died from her terrible head injuries.
Jah’niyah White, 2, died from a terrible head injury she got on Dec. 7 after being bitten by her grandpa’s dog. The little girl was left in the care of her grandfather when her parents went to work, but the dog attacked her during a time when the grandfather left her home unattended.
Toddler Mauled To Death By Grandfather’s Dog: Chicago Girl Killed By Family Pet
The toddler’s father, John White, 21, said he initially thought that his daughter got her fatal injuries from falling down the stairs, but an autopsy performed by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office on Dec. 8 found the girl had been neglected and actually died from injuries she sustained during a dog attack. The girl’s death was ruled a homicide by the Medical Examiner’s office.
The little girl’s grandfather is being investigated by Chicago Police and Child Protective Services on allegations of neglect and abuse, but he has not been charged, reported The Chicago Sun Times. The breed of the dog or the duration of time the toddler was left home alone was not immediately released by police.
Family Mourns Loss Of Adorable Toddler
The family mourns the loss of their beautiful little girl right before Christmas. Her father explained that she was a smart toddler. “She talked a lot,†he told The Chicago Sun Times. “She liked to play. She knew all the ABCs.†Friends of the family told the publication that the family had already started shopping for Jah’niyah’s holiday presents.
