It’s been a huge year for J-Law, so being featured on Barbara Walters’ ‘Most Fascinating People’ special was a given! However, Jennifer revealed that as an award-winning star, she doesn’t like the way people look at her.
As is the rest of the world, Barbara Walters absolutely loves 23-year-old Jennifer Lawrence. The humble, stunning actress is one of the realest people in the industry, but even with all her successes, her perfect day wouldn’t include any of the lights or cameras — and definitely wouldn’t include the action.
Jennifer Lawrence: I ‘Feel Like A Zoo Animal’
Jennifer is definitely just one of the girls — and we love it. “I don’t know what’s going to fly out my mouth,” she said in the interview, and we’ve seen that happen tons of times. However, with all her career changes, she’s still most shocked that she’s treated so differently.
“The main thing is the way people look at you and talk to you, because you don’t feel any different,” she said. “A light never went off, like ‘Ok, I’m a new me.’ So it’s hard when people treat you differently, I mean you don’t feel any differently. Â It’s alienating.”
Barbara went on to ask if she was treated nicely — and the answer was one we didn’t expect.
“Yeah, but I don’t know. You feel like a zoo animal, or something. I don’t know what it is. It’s something in somebody’s eyes. It’s like not connecting, not making eye contact sometimes,” she said. Then it got a little sad! ”And now I’m surrounded by people all the time, and I can be so lonely when everyone goes. But I have to remind myself it’s just being alone, it’s not lonely.”
Most of all Jennifer just wanted that normal life. She said that her idea of a perfect day is no alarm, no cameras and being able to take a walk in the park without sunglasses and a hat. And in ten years, she’s hoping to have “everything calm.”
As the huge star she is, Barbara even reminded her, saying that she wasn’t sure if it’s possible!
Jennifer Lawrence: ‘The Girl On Fire’ In 2013
In case you’ve been living under a rock, this was the year the world officially fell in love with Jennifer Lawrence — like, even more than it already had.
From her down-to-earth behavior at major Hollywood events (we loved when she casually flipped someone the bird at the Academy Awards) to her string of huge movies (Catching Fire and American Hustle, anyone?) J-Law kept us fully entertained, both on and off-screen.
We also love Jennifer as a champion of women everywhere. She’s always promoted healthy body images and female empowerment, but she really hammered her beliefs home during her sit-down with Barbara.
âI just think it should be illegal to call somebody fat on TV,” she said. “I think the media needs to take responsibility for the effect it has on our younger generation, on these girls that are watching these television shows and picking up how to talk and how to be cool. So all of a sudden being funny is making fun of a girl thatâs wearing an ugly dress.”
(You go, girl!)
