Many of Justin’s other new songs seemed to be looking back on the past, exploring his relationship and breakup with Selena. But “Confident” seems to be addressing how he feels now — and his actions have affirmed that better than anything else. Put simply, “confident” is the word that comes to mind when we see Justin’s “All That Matters’ video and hear about Justin’s wild parties.

Justin previewed “Confident” on Dec. 6 with exactly that, as he and a backup dancer practiced moves to the new song in a dance studio. The Biebs was a picture of self-assurance as he glared into the studio’s mirror while shaking his body and breaking it down. He’s confident, alright.
