Justine Sacco’s Racist Tweet: Stars & Fans React On Twitter

Justine became semi-famous on Dec. 20 when her extremely offensive tweet went viral, and stars and fans began to weigh in on the latest Twitterstorm. See what they had to say!

Justine Sacco, who works as a communications director for the media conglomerate IAC, likely wasn’t the only one to tweet something extremely foul and racist on Dec. 20, but nevertheless, she and her tweet became the center of a viral Twitter trend, with fans and stars like Alyssa Milano and Piers Morgan commenting on her ignorance.

Stars & Fans React To Justine Sacco’s Racist Tweet

After she tweeted (and deleted), “Going to Africa. Hope I don’t get AIDS. Just kidding. I’m white!” and then deleted her Twitter account altogether, celebs started expressing their disgust:

General Twitter users also got in the act so aggressively that Justine and the hashtag “#HasJustineLandedYet” became worldwide trends. Like the celebs, the fans were also pretty up in arms about what Justine tweeted:

IAC Apologizes For Justine Sacco

As we mentioned before, instead of taking responsibility for her actions, Justine instead just deleted her Twitter account altogether. So cleanup duty was left to her company, IAC. As attention towards Justine began to build, they released the following statement:

This is an outrageous, offensive comment that does not reflect the views and values of IAC. Unfortunately, the employee in question is unreachable on an international flight, but this is a very serious matter and we are taking appropriate action.

Following Duck Dynasty‘s Phil Robertson, this is the second person in a week to spark a huge controversy over offensive comments. Only with Justine, it’s pretty clear that everyone only feels one way about her.
