It’s official: everyone’s favorite guilty pleasure historical drama is ‘Downton Abbey’ — even the royal family! The cast members of the wildly popular show revealed that Prince William has gotten hooked on the show since being home a lot with his wife, Kate, and baby Prince George!
Prince William and Kate Middleton spend some of their family time curled up in front of the television since welcoming their 4-month-old son Prince George, and as Allen Leech – Mr. Tom Branson himself – of Downtown Abbey confirmed on the Dec. 10 episode of Watch What Happens Live! that Will has taken a liking to the historical British show — but only since becoming a dad!
Prince William Watches ‘Downton Abbey’: New Dad Loves Sharing Show With Family
“I was actually at an event last week with Prince William, now the Duke of Cambridge,” Allen, 32, said on Watch What Happens Live! with host Andy Cohen when a fan asked how close he had ever come to the royal family. “So yeah, I met him last week … shook his hand.”
If that’s not exciting enough, Allen said that they even exchanged words with Will, 31, about the drama! “He actually said, ‘I’m a big fan of the show. Only now that my wife’s had a baby,’” Allen revealed.
Kate Middleton Gets Prince William Hooked On ‘Downton Abbey’
Allen joked that it was Kate, 31, who likely got Will into the show. “Obviously he’s now got a lot of down time so she’s gone ‘I’m watching this and you’re watching it with me,’” he said.
Looks like the royal family has found a fun family activity to share together — and there will be no fighting over the remote while Downton is on!
