Paul Walker‘s sudden death has sent shock waves through Hollywood, and Wu-Tang Clan leader RZA has found a unique and moving way to mourn the actor’s loss and pay tribute to his life. RZA, who met Paul on the set of the upcoming film Brick Mansions, has dedicated a four-minute ballad titled “Destiny Bends” to the late actor, whom he says was a “good man.” Read on for all the details.
RZA’s Paul Walker Tribute Song — Rapper Dedicates ‘Destiny Bends’ To Late Actor
Paul touched so many lives before his untimely death. Even though RZA only knew the actor for less than a year, after he heard the news of Paul’s passing, he felt compelled to write a song in his honor. RZA, 44, wrote the beautiful and incredibly touching track “Destiny Bends” with his two sons and singer Will Wells and posted it online on Dec. 1.
RZA also shared a brief reflection on his time with Paul when he released the song. He says:
I met Paul on the set of the film Brick Mansion, where we talked, laughed, and exchanged ideas of life and fatherhood,” the artist wrote. “I only knew him personally for less than a year, but we knew each other through our work and art. We saw in each other a kindred spirit of men coming from unlikely circumstances, and rising to be the light and beacon of our family and loved ones.
Millions of people get to know an artist or movie star through their work, but few are allowed to cross each others’ paths and see through the veil of stardom and find the common denominator that we share. As all physical things will decay and wither away, film, art, and music remain longer than the vessel that delivered them. In this vein, the one thing we can’t take away or give back is time. So, thus, time is the most precious gift. I dedicated my time to compose this song with my two sons and new friend Will Wells, who was kind enough to sing and perform it for me. We dedicate it to Paul Walker.
It was so sweet of RZA to create this emotional song in Paul’s memory.
Paul Walker’s Untimely Death
As HollywoodLife.com previously reported, the 40-year-old “Fast and the Furious” star died on Nov. 30 after getting into a nasty car crash in Santa Clarita. The crash also killed Paul’s friend, Roger Rodas, 38.
