Oh no! It looks like Selena won’t be visiting the land down under after all. The ‘Slow Down’ singer has cancelled her 2014 Australian tour because she says she needs to work on becoming ‘the best person’ she can be.
Selena Gomez revealed in November that she wanted to take her Stars Dance tour to Australia because of the “magical” time she spent there with her ex Justin Bieber – but sadly, the singer seems to have had a change of heart. The last thing Sel wants to do is let her fans down, but she feels she’s reached a point in her life where she needs to focus on herself.
Selena Gomez Tour Canceled — Singer Cancels Australia Tour To Focus On Herself
There’s going to be a lot of disappointed Aussies, but Selena is hoping her fans will forgive her. She says in a statement:
My fans are so important to me and I would never want to disappoint them. But it has become clear to me and those close to me that after many years of putting my work first, I need to spend some time on myself in order to be the best person I can be.
Selena works so hard so we totally understand why she needs a break. We can’t help but be worried about her, but apparently she’s doing just fine.
“Selena is fine, she’s in a great space,” a source close to the singer tells People. “She’s looking forward to spending the holidays with her family.”
Selena wrapped her Stars Dance tour on Nov. 26, after playing 55 dates across the U.S. and in Europe.
“She’s been on the road for six months and she’s just ready to be normal and at home with her family,” the source says. “She’s been working nonstop since she was 15 and wants to take a minute to herself.”
Selena Gomez Touring Australia — Justin Bieber Is The Real Reason
Selena and Justin shared some wonderful times in the land down under when she visited him there during his summer 2012 tour — which is exactly why she had been so eager to return in 2014.
“I went on the road in Australia with my ex-boyfriend. I loved it. That’s why I secretly wanted to extend this tour, to make sure I could go to Australia,” Selena told News.com.AU in November.
