After more than three months of unforgettable performances and heartbreaking eliminations, The X Factor wrapped its third season Dec. 19 with a live, two-hour extravaganza. Along with performances by Lea Michele and One Direction, the final episode also revealed the winner of season three! So who ended up on top? Drumroll please…
‘X Factor’ Winner: Alex & Sierra Win Season 3
After America’s final weigh-in, Alex and Sierra were officially declared the winning act of The X Factor‘s third season!
Mario Lopez made the big announcement at the end of the two-hour finale, a reveal which was met with pretty much every emotion in the book. Oh, and confetti. Lots of confetti.
Demi Lovato Leaving ‘The X Factor’
In addition to this being the final X Factor episode of season three, it was also Demi Lovato‘s final episode on the judges’ panel. After a source revealed that Demi would be leaving the show to work on her music, Simon Cowell officially confirmed her departure.
“I knew she wasn’t coming back because she’s [going to be] touring,” Simon told HollywoodLife.com after the Dec. 18 taping. “We always knew that. Two seasons was good. In terms of next season, I believe it will be back. It will have a different look to it.”
We’ll definitely miss Demi, but sometimes change is a good thing. Then again, if ratings are any indication, there might not be an X Factor for anyone to judge next season!
