One Direction Performs ‘Midnight Memories’ On ‘ X Factor’ Finale

One Direction never passes up an opportunity to visit The X Factor, the franchise responsible for making the group an international pop sensation, so the boys happily stopped by Dec. 19 to perform during the live finale.

Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Liam Payne were at their most dapper, taking the stage for a performance of “Midnight Memories,” the title track off their latest studio album.

Though the night was mostly about which of the remaining contestants — Alex & Sierra, Jeff Gutt or Carlito Olivero – would emerge victorious, we welcomed One Direction’s brief interruption. (Seriously, these finales can get so stressful!)

But because the boys never do anything half-assed, they also flew across the pond to perform “Midnight Memories” at The X Factor U.K., the show they didn’t win back in 2010. The now-famous fivesome placed third on the show’s seventh season, having originally auditioned as solo singers before being put into a group by Simon Cowell.

The guys assembled Dec. 15 at London’s Wembley Arena, where they channeled their inner grunge-rockers in tight, black outfits.
