The 40-year-old actor was surely taken too soon when he perished in a fiery car accident on Nov. 30. But at least a man who was with him before the crash says that he was loving life until the moment he passed.
Paul Walker was doing what he loved right up until the moment he died in a car accident on Nov. 30. Bill Townshend, who was at the event Paul attended before leaving in that fateful Porsche GT, says that the 40-year-old actor was “so happy” just before being involved in the fatal car crash.
Paul Walker ‘So Happy’ Before Dying
“He had been so happy,” Bill told E! of how Paul’s demeanor was at the fundraising event for the Philippines typhoon effort. “He was there at the event and had managed to raise thousands and so many people had brought toys.”
Bill, who had also taken a happy photo with Paul at the event, continued: “So many people had come out to support the charity and he was with his friends. It was a great day for him. He was so overwhelmed to have so much support.”
Paul Walker’s Tragic Accident
That insight at least adds a silver lining to what happened after Paul left the fundraiser with his friend, Roger Rodas. Rodas, who was behind the wheel of the red Porsche GT, lost control of the vehicle in Santa Clarita, Calif. and slammed into a tree.
Shortly after the crash, the car exploded and burst into flames. Paul and Roger were unable to escape the wreck and by the time help had arrived, it was too late. Authorities pronounced both men dead at the scene.
It’s a shocking tragedy, but there’s no doubt that Paul spent his final hours doing what he loved — raising money for charity and driving fast cars. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends, as well as those close to Roger.
