Kanye West: Role Model For Romance — New Family With Kim Kardashian Is So Sweet
Kanye, who would have thought until recently that you’d turn into such a romantic mushball? ”I feel like our love story is like, a love story for the ages,” you told NYC’s Hot 97 radio station on Nov. 25, while your fiancee, Kim Kardashian, sat by your side. “I feel like when we first got together, it was like a Romeo and Juliet kind of thing.”
Kanye — it’s so sweet that you’re comparing yourself and Kim to Romeo and Juliet. Though you obviously don’t come from families who are at war, I think what you’re trying to convey is how deeply in love you are with Kim, which is a wonderful sentiment.
In fact, you also said in the interview that you fell in love with Kim at first sight. “I loved her from the first day I saw her,” you told the radio station. “I knew, 100 percent [that she was the one] … I knew what I wanted. I knew I wanted this family.”
Now Kanye, no one would have predicted that you’d become a happy and satisfied family man before you became involved with Kim. You appeared to be more focused on your career and on being a ladies’ man. But the fact is that you’re a role model for millions of young men, and you’re now speaking out boldly about the joys of marriage, love and being a dad.
You will be a great, positive influence on many men who might have thought it wasn’t so cool to commit.

And you’re not just committing — you’re committing for life! “You’re wifey for life,” you told Kim, in front of the Hot 97 interviewer. Kanye — committing is, of course, what you should be doing when you propose marriage and conceive a child. But unfortunately, we all know how many men (and women, for that matter) commit for the moment, but when the going gets tough — they get going.
Having a star as prominent as you, Kanye, going public with your intention to marry for life reinforces the value of marriage.
It’s also impressive that you discussed how compromise is important when you love someone and you want to make that relationship work.
You revealed that you allowed your engagement proposal to be filmed by a crew from Keeping Up with the Kardashians, even though your personal desire was to keep the moment private. “I made sure the show was there because I felt like that’s something that would make her happy,” you said about Kim. “When you’re in a relationship, you start making sacrifices of what you think is cool, and not cool, and you just let it go.”
Kanye — that’s so true.
You’ve recognized that building a relationship isn’t like producing an album. When you’re recording, it’s all about having a personal vision that you follow through with until it’s perfect. But in a marriage, it will only be successful if you’re thinking for two, not one, and you’re willing to let go of perfection, and compromise.
