We still have to wait eight days to see Carrie Underwood “sing out” on NBC’s live presentation of The Sound of Music, but because the Peacock network loves us all so much, we’ve been given an early behind-the-scenes look at the highly anticipated event. NBC aired a “Making Of” special Nov. 27, taking viewers into rehearsals to see Carrie, Stephen Moyer and more stars in action.

Truth be told, we had our reservations about this live musical when NBC first announced it — we had trouble imagining Carrie as Maria — but this preview special eased our every fear. In fact, it did so much more than that; we’re now officially stoked to see this incredible cast bring one the most beloved American classic musicals back to life.

In addition to the American Idol winner and the True Blood hottie, this new Sound of Music also features Smash‘s Christian Borle, Private Practice‘s Audra McDonald, Broadway superstar Laura Benanti and many more.
