It was the semi-finals during the Nov. 18 episode and guest judge Maksim Chmerkovskiy did not take it easy on his former rivals! See who will dance in the finals below!
The five remaining couples each had to dance two dances by interpreting the same piece of music in two totally different ways. Click below for the full recap and to see who is in the finals for season 17 of Dancing With The Stars.
‘Dancing With The Stars’ Week 10 — The Semi-Finals
Leah Remini danced the paso doble with partner Tony Dovolani to Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance.” Head judge Len Goodman said it was a little bit too careful. Carrie Ann Inaba said, “You definitely brought the drama,” but after Leah tripped on her skirt, she said, “This one was a rough road for you.” Maksim Chmerkovskiy said he wanted more emotion. They got a 32 out of 40.
Corbin Bleu danced a very passionate tango with Karina Smirnoff in front of Maks, Karina’s former fiance! Bruno Tonioli said “you had so much drive, so much intense, so much passion, it was almost untamable!” Carrie Ann said she would like to see that again! Maks said the content was amazing! Len said it was “manic” and it wasn’t his cup of tea. They got a score of 35.
Jack Osbourne and Cheryl Burke danced jazz while Jack battled the side effects of MS. Maks said: “I loved it, I thought it was great.” Len said it lacked finesse and dance quality. Carrie Ann praised Cheryl for her hot, hot, hot performance! They got a 33. Cheryl actually started crying after the judging when Jack said he just has to roll with the punches of MS.
Bill Engvall, battling a groin injury, danced the cha cha with Emma Slater. Maks said he doesn’t believe in talent, he believes in hard work and praised Bill for putting in the hours. Len said “maybe you’re not always the judge’s champion, but you’re the people’s champion.” Bruno said it was “pure enjoyment.” They got a score of 28!
Amber Riley, with her knees feeling slightly better, danced jazz with Derek Hough. “Do it again,” Len said. Bruno said it was “incredible, totally fierce.” Carrie Ann said Amber is in a class of her own. They got a 39!
Amber & Derek topped the leaderboard with 39 after the first round, with Bill & Emma at the bottom with 28.
Instrumental Interpretation — The Switch Up
Leah and Tony danced the Argentine tango for their second dance. Len said “he liked it fine” but said they didn’t embrace the dance. Bruno liked the “sensual, intimate side of it.” They got a 33 for a total of 65.
Karina and a shirtless Corbin danced a super sexy rumba. Bruno said “it was so deeply felt.” Carrie Ann said, “your body is a wonderland!” Maks said he is lucky to be trained by one of the top five female dancers — awww! They got a perfect score of 40 and a total of 75!
Jack and Cheryl danced the Argentine tango after Jack revealed his struggles with addiction and his MS diagnosis. Carrie Ann said “you were so in the zone,” after calling him an inspiration. “You were as slick as a prowling panther,” Bruno purred. They got a 38 for a total of 71.
Bill and Emma danced the Argentine tango. Maks said it was great, that he “didn’t break character and it was awesome.” Len said he may not have the technique to win but he has the will to win. Bruno said it was very well done. They got a 32 for a total score of 60.
Derek and Amber danced the Viennese Waltz. Len said it was a terrific performance. Bruno said she danced like an angel. Maks said she is with a guy who knows how to win and she can do it next week. They got a perfect 40 and total score of 79.
At the end, Derek & Amber were at the top with Bill & Emma at the bottom.
