It’s been a busy, curse-filled week for Alec Baldwin — but there’s one place he won’t be running his mouth off — and that’s on his late night show on MSNBC!
Alec Baldwin‘s show on MSNBC, Up Late with Alec, will be off the air for two weeks, the network announced on Nov. 14, after the actor allegedly yelled a homophobic slur at a photographer in NYC. Alec released an apology for the incident after his show was suspended. Get all the details below.
Alec Baldwin Suspended By MSNBC For Homophobic Slurs — Actor Apologizes
Alec owned up to his mistakes in a statement printed on MSNBC’s website.
“I would like to address the comments I made this past week. I did not intend to hurt or offend anyone with my choice of words, but clearly I have â" and for that I am deeply sorry. Words are important. I understand that, and will choose mine with great care going forward,” he said in the statement. Alec even tweeted it out for his followers to read.
The comments he’s referring to were made on Nov. 14, when he was being chased by a photopgrapher. While he was accused of calling the paparazzi a “c**k su**ing f–,” he claims the last word he used was actually “fathead.”
He defended himself by writing, “Acoustic analysis proves the word is fathead. Fathead … Anti-gay slurs are wrong. They not only offend, but threaten hard fought tolerance of LGBT right.”
Regardless, his show will still be off the air for two weeks.
Below is the rest of the explanation:
What I said and did this week, as I was trying to protect my family, was offensive and unacceptable. Behavior like this undermines hard-fought rights that I vigorously support. I understand Up Late will be taken off the schedule for tonight and next week.
I want to apologize to my loyal fans and to my colleagues at MSNBC â" both for my actions and for distracting from their good work. Again, please accept my apology.
Tell us what you think, HollywoodLifers –Â Should Alec’s show be banned for good?
