Maggie Q tells HollywoodLife.com that ‘Mikita’ is on ‘the road to recovery’ in season four, while Shane West offers up his thoughts on a potential wedding scene.
With its titular heroine on the run after ‘assassinating’ the President of the United States, Nikita has a lot to squeeze into its six-episode final season, which kicks off Nov. 22 at 9 p.m. on The CW. But between all the name-clearing and team-reuniting that needs to be done, will Michael (Shane West) and Nikita (Maggie Q) also find time to finally say “I do?” HollywoodLife.com recently visited the action-thriller’s Toronto set, where we got the scoop straight from the lovers’ mouths.
Though I’m sure she’d look amazing, it sounds like we shouldn’t hold our breath for the sight of Nikita in a wedding gown. Lyndsy Fonseca, whose character would most likely serve as Nikita’s potential Maid of Honor, shot the idea of a wedding scene down as soon as I asked about it.
“They’ve got definite serious relationships issues, but no, there will not be a wedding,” Lyndsy told me. “There are too many other things to deal with. Spies can’t just take a day off and have a wedding; they have things to worry about, like missiles exploding, so that’s where their priorities are.”
OK, No Wedding — But Will We Get A Honeymoon?
Though Shane basically echoed Lyndsy’s wedding-less sentiments, he also explained why, and it actually makes sense:
“Even if it’s going that route, I think we’re all not wanting to film a wedding scene,” he admitted. “We were like, ‘OK, we’ll have that engagement scene and we’ll have the rings.’ Maybe they do get married and live happily ever after, but I don’t think we’re going to see it happen. Maggie was pretty adamant, like, ‘I’m not going to be in a wedding dress.’”
But that doesn’t mean we won’t see Michael and Nikita end up together!
“Maybe there’s a honeymoon shot,” Shane said, clearly throwing me a bone. “I don’t know.”
(To be fair, the cast was filming episode five during my set visit, still unaware of what the final episode had in store for their characters.)
Michael & Nikita’s Relationship Drama In Season 4?
Regardless of whether or not we see Michael and Nikita tie the knot — and I’m still hoping we do — Maggie explained that the couple has a bit of “recovery” before a wedding is even an option
[Michael] essentially doesn’t want to fight for them anymore. He’s tired of her making all the decisions for them. And you know how sometimes it takes a third person to come in and fix things? Well, there’s a character from the second season who I love — and I’ve been fighting to have back from the day I met him — who has a great scene with Michael where he’s like, ‘Let me assess the situation…’ and he does. He does it in such a real way, and even though we all know the truth, it’s breathtaking to actually hear it. So that gets them on the road to recovery.
A glimmer of hope for ‘Mikita?’ OK, I’ll take it!
