Tears flowed, shocking confessions emerged, and a shoe was almost hurled across the room! You guessed it, the ‘Teen Mom 3′ reunion with Dr. Drew brought a dramatic end to the girls’ turbulent first season. Read on for the full reunion recap.
Dr. Drew brought out some very dark emotions when he interviewed the Teen Mom 3 cast on the Nov. 18 reunion episode. Mackenzie Douthit admitted that she and Josh McKee were both cheating on each other – and that’s only the beginning of the drama!
Katie Yeager Regrets Shocking Jab At Joey Maes
Katie Yeager told Dr. Drew that her ex Joey Maes is going through anger management, and they are continuing couple’s counseling. She explained that she moved back in with him and they are a couple again, because she wanted to live as an “intact family” for their daughter Molli. She revealed that she is willing to give their relationship one more chance, but she doesn’t have more chances after that. When asked about why Joey left his other girlfriend, Brigette, Katie said he was only with her for about a month when he noticed another girl wasn’t a solution to his problems — and it wasn’t specifically Katie’s characteristics and actions that were causing their clashes.
“For the first time in my life, I really hated someone,” Katie said of her feelings while Joey was with another girl. ”I feel like I’m an intelligent girl, and I know how to solve problems without going to anger.” Katie revealed that the worst thing she ever told Joey was that she didn’t care if he ever came out of the coal mines — a hurtful jab that now haunts her every time he goes down to work. Katie now understands that she craved approval from her child’s dad because she always wanted to get approval from her own father — but now that she knows that’s how she was acting, she feels strong enough to move past it. Joey said that he couldn’t deal with the pair fighting over money, because he risks his life for his well-paying job.
Katie’s mom, Lucy, clashed with both Katie and Joey because she’s not happy that they’re back as a couple. She said that Katie preaches forgiveness but holds grudges herself — a fact that Joey was happy to sound off on and agree with!
Briana DeJesus’ Mom & Sister Blow Up At Devoin Austin
Briana DeJesus admitted to hooking up with Jacob – not only sneaking out on dates with him! She said her mother, Roxanne, was against all kinds of dating, not just that she didn’t like Jacob. Briana also said that her mom’s own philosophy about asking her father to stay away helped her to remove Devoin Austin from their daughter, Nova‘s life. Briana said that her own father gave her and her sister Brittany mixed signals about when he was going to see them, and it was better when he wasn’t messing with their emotions. Briana said she wasn’t impre ssed that Devoin had come to Nova’s birthday party, because showing up for an hour doesn’t count as stepping up as far as Briana is concerned. Devoin said that he has tried to make the effort to visit his daughter, but that Briana has stood in his way at every turn.
Dr. Drew brought up Briana and Devoin’s Twitter war, which brought the pair to court for harassment. Briana says that Devoin doesn’t do anything for their daughter, and tries to pretend that he does without knowing anything about their daughter. Devoin picked a fight with Briana by saying he watched her on 16 & Pregnant and saw that she had no idea what she was doing with their baby. While he was talking, Brittany came out from the wings of the studio to defend her little sister, and things got ugly. The reunion turned into a Jerry Springer Show moment, which Devoin even brought up! Roxanne came out and even tried to throw her shoe at Devoin! Devoin was escorted out of the room by security, and Briana and her family all agreed that it was typical Devoin behavior. Brittany was particularly mad that Devoin never helps out with the baby — the women all say they don’t need his money or for him to buy Nova things, but they need hi m around. Briana admitted that she may be setting Devoin up for failure with her actions.
Alex Sekella Reluctant To Give Matt McCann Visitations Of Daughter
Alex Sekella got choked up about the fact that it’s only her daughter Arabella and herself — and that she is incredibly disappointed in the way that Matt McCann left his daughter. She is not sad for herself or her relationship, but she always wanted better for her little girl. Alex revealed that she was unable to complete high school by doing online assignments, and that she will be returning to the 12th grade full-time at school because her grandma agreed to watch Arabella.
“I break down,” Alex admitted to Dr. Drew. “It has to do with Matt, with him basically walking out and not even making an effort to try.” She is frustrated that she was always there for Matt during his drug struggles, but he skipped out on nine visitations with Arabella. Matt said that when he is high, he has no control and doesn’t know what he is capable of. He doesn’t make rational decisions or look out for himself. Alex admitted for the first time on the show that she knew he was a drug addict when she met him and they started dating — and that she was heartbroken when she went to be tested for STDs after she found out that Matt had cheated on her.
Matt admitted that while he was homeless, he was living in the woods and shoplifting at a nearby store. This is not the kind of influence that Alex wanted in her daughter’s life — and when Dr. Drew tries to set up an impromptu visitation with Matt and Arabella, she doesn’t take the suggestion well. (P.S. — Matt passed his drug test administered by the show!)
Mackenzie Douthit Admits To Cheating On Josh McKee
Mackenzie admitted that the worst summer of her life was documented on Teen Mom 3: she said she hit “rock bottom,” and the cameras even missed some of the worst moments. Mackenzie said that her relationship with Josh got so bad that they both started seeing other people — and she personally wanted to get the attention that other guys were giving her. When the pair blurred the lines between dating and being broken up, Josh had a “one night thing” with another girl, which really hurt Mackenzie.
Mackenzie said that she went to her mom with all of her woes — after she felt like she had already made so mistakes, she didn’t worry about then telling her mom everything. Mackenzie compared herself to her siblings, who she explained never made the kinds of mistakes she did, and who waited until marriage to have sex. Mackenzie explained that her diabetes diagnosis had a lot to do with her sense of rebellion and the bitterness she felt as a child, but that she really “went crazy” when her brother Mike, who had Down’s Syndrome, passed away before she entered the 8th grade. Mack had never opened up about her late brother before, so she felt a sense of release by explaining her heartache.
After hitting emotional desperation with Josh, Mackenzie gushed that things have never been better. Even Dr. Drew noticed how articulate and well-spoken Josh had become, and explained it best as “neurologically better.” After suffering through head trauma sustained by riding and being on pills, Josh’s communication with Mackenzie suffered even more — and his whole personality changed before he quit taking the painkillers. Josh agreed to give up riding for the sake of Mackenzie and their son Gannon – and revealed he is going to school for criminal justice and wants to be a state trooper.
