Student, 14, Indicted For Brutal Rape & Murder Of Teacher Colleen Ritzer

Disturbing new details released in the Colleen Ritzer murder case reveal that a teenage student allegedly raped the teacher and slit her throat before leaving her body in a ‘sexually staged’ position behind the school.

Philip Chism, 14, was indicted in court on Nov. 22 on charges of raping, murdering, and robbing his 24-year-old Danvers High School math teacher Colleen Ritzer on Oct. 22. Gruesome details previously unreleased by the court were revealed to support the Danvers, Mass. teen’s indictment. In addition to charging the teen with his teacher’s murder, court documents explain he allegedly sexually assaulted her as well.

Philip Chism Indicted: Teen Student Charged With Murder & Rape Of Colleen Ritzer

The teen is accused of sexually assaulting his teacher with a tree branch, before slitting her throat with a box cutter, stuffing her body into a recycling bin and disposing of her body behind Danvers High School, according to The Daily Mail. He also allegedly left a note reading “I hate you all,” next to the corpse.

Police believe he “planned the crime,” reported The Boston Herald, because he allegedly came to school with the box cutter, a mask and multiple changes of clothes. The teen reportedly got “distressed” when Ms. Ritzer asked him about Tennessee, the state he had recently moved from following his parents’ divorce.

The court released more details from the case on Nov. 22 in order to clear speculation of Ms. Ritzer’s involvement in the case, and to support an indictment against her accused murderer.

“There is absolutely no evidence of any misconduct or wrongdoing by Ms Ritzer of any sort,” assistant Essex District Attorney David O’Sullivan said in a court hearing.

Teen Charged As Adult In Colleen Ritzer Murder

The teen has cooperated with police in sharing details of his case, but he has not revealed a motive. “Chism is being charged as an adult in the murder case and as a youthful offender in the rape and robbery case, meaning any trial would be held in public and that he could receive an adult punishment if convicted,” reported The Boston Herald.

Our thoughts are with Colleen’s family at this difficult time.
