Taylor Swift’s infamous surprise face has already had its moment. Now, thanks to her gleeful antics at the VMAs and Nov. 24′s AMAs, country’s biggest star is starting a new award show trend: the Taylor Swift ‘lame dance!’
It’s hard to call anything that 23-year-old Taylor Swift does lame. When you’ve won countless awards, dated Hollywood’s hottest hunks and call Selena Gomez your best friend, you can get away with anything â€" including dancing life a goofball on live television. Still, when HollywoodLife.com caught up with Taylor backstage at the 2013 American Music Awards, we had to find out why she lets her freak flag fly at these award shows, even when the cameras are watching.
Taylor Swift Explains Her ‘Lame’ Dancing
When HollywoodLife.com told Taylor that we adore her on-camera dance moves, she told us EXCLUSIVELY that she honestly couldn’t believe it!
“Are you serious?” she said with a laugh. “Are you lying? [People] love them and then they’re like, ‘that’s so lame.’”
We never said that!
“I have a really good time at award shows,” she continued. “A couple of years ago, I just decided that instead of stressing out about being at an award show, [I would] kind of approach it as if you get to go to the best concert of all time. And these performances â€" I thought there were so many amazing performances tonight. The Great Big World and the Christina Aguilera performance … I was almost crying, it was so emotional. There were so many [other] good ones like Imagine Dragons that killed me… So I felt really lucky to be in the audience tonight, and to be dancing to all of it.”

For the record, HollywoodLife.com thinks it’s pretty awesome that Taylor has so much fun at shows like the AMAs. So many artists get lost in the pressure from their nominations, and forget to remember the key point that they’re partying with the most talented musical artists in the world!
Having a front row seat to Justin Timberlake, Ariana Grande, Lady Gaga and the like would make any normal girl dance like no one was watching — so why shouldn’t Taylor do the same thing? We can’t think of one single reason, Tay.
